How Brand Matching Works on Unresourced

A plain-language look at how Unresourced matches creators with brands: what your profile tells us, what brands tell us, and how our team reviews both.

One of the questions we hear most, from creators and brands alike, is simple: how do the right people find each other here?

The short answer is that matching on Unresourced is a mix of what you tell us, what a brand tells us, and a real person on our team reading both. This post explains how that works in plain terms, what you can do to get better matches, and what stays private.

We keep the finer details of how we weigh things to ourselves. That keeps the process fair and hard to game. But the parts that matter to you are all below.

It starts with what you tell us

For creators, matching begins the moment you set up your profile. A few answers do most of the work.

One thing that does not decide anything on its own: your follower count. Plenty of brands want a clear, honest creator over a big number.

Your matching profile adds detail

Once you are set up, your matching profile lets you go further. The more brands know what fits you, the better the campaigns you see.

It covers:

You can also connect your social accounts so your followers, engagement and growth show as verified numbers rather than typed-in ones.

Some categories are opt-in only

A handful of categories are off unless you switch them on. These include alcohol, cannabis and CBD where it is legal, betting and gaming, and intimacy and sexual health brands.

If you leave them off, brands in those categories will not see you. If you turn one on, brands in that category can see that you opted in. It is your call, and you can change it.

What brands tell us

On the brand side, matching starts with the brief. Brands build one in five steps, and each step gives us something to match against:

When a creator opens a campaign, they see a "Who it is for" section with the brand's requirements. Some brands mark these as strict, which means they only take creators who meet all of them. Others are more flexible.

A real person reads both sides

This is the part that matters most. Matching on Unresourced is not just a filter. Our team reviews every brief and casts against it.

On the creator side, every creator passes three checks before brands see them:

  1. a portfolio check;
  2. a brand-fit read;
  3. a reliability review.

The same care goes into invites and posts for the waitlist. Nothing unlocks automatically. A person looks at each one.

For bigger launches, brands can choose a premium option where the team builds a curated shortlist from a vetted core roster and runs the program end to end.

How your activity helps

What you do on the platform matters too. Our rewards levels count the campaign posts the team approves each calendar month, and some levels come with casting perks:

Levels start fresh on the 1st of every month, so a quiet month never locks you out for good.

When an application is declined

Not every match lands, and that is normal. If a brand declines your application, you can ask again a week after the decline. In the meantime, it is worth looking at the brief's requirements again, and at whether your profile tells the full story of what you do.

What we will not share

We are open about how matching works at this level, and we will keep being open about it. What we do not publish is the inner detail: exactly how we weigh each answer or each signal. That protects creators and brands from people trying to game the system, and it keeps the focus on doing good work and telling the truth on your profile.
