Your First Week on Unresourced: A Practical Guide
A day-by-day guide to your first week on Unresourced: finish your profile, get off the waitlist, request gifting and start applying to brand campaigns.
Welcome in. The first week on any new platform sets the tone for everything after it, and Unresourced is no different. The good news is that most of what matters comes down to a handful of steps you only do once.
This guide walks through that first week for creators, with a section at the end for brands and agencies. Nothing here is a trick. It is simply the order we would do things in if we were starting today.
Day one: claim your account and finish your profile
When you join, you set a password and land on a short setup flow. It takes a few minutes, it saves on your device as you go, and you can close the page and pick up where you left off.
Here is what it asks for, and why each part matters:
- Your name and a clear photo of your face. This is how brands know you. A real face photo gets approved faster.
- Confirmation that you are 18 or older. Brands only partner with adults. Your birth year stays private.
- Your city. Some brands only ship to certain places, and some cast locally.
- A shipping address for gifted product. It is shared only with a brand that approves you for its product.
- Your lane. Pick up to six categories. We match you to brands in these first, so choose the ones you genuinely create in.
- Your pace. How many videos a month you can make. Brands see this, so pick a number you can keep. Consistency beats volume.
- Your track record. Whether your videos have driven shop sales before. A "not yet" is completely fine. Plenty of members start there.
- Your channels. Add at least one of TikTok, Instagram or YouTube. Follower count does not decide anything here.
- Your portfolio. Paste links to up to five videos. Brands care more about real than perfect.
One detail worth knowing: applying stays locked until you add your first video. If you only do one thing on day one, add a video link.
Days two and three: get off the list
Everyone starts on the waitlist, and your dashboard shows your spot. You can move faster with a little help from your community:
- One friend joins with your invite link: you move to the top of the list.
- Two friends join, or you post about us once: you get immediate access, once the team verifies it.
Nothing unlocks automatically. A real person checks every invite and every post. If you post, tag @unresourced and add the link, then paste your post into the form so we can confirm it is live and public.
Your invite link lives on your dashboard. Once you are in, invites keep helping: a friend who signs up through your link on a given day lifts that day's gifting form limit.
Day three: fill in your matching profile
Your basic profile gets you started. Your matching profile is what helps the right briefs find you. You will find it under Matching on your dashboard.
It covers things like:
- the languages you create in, which brands can see;
- the categories you are open to;
- details about your home and household, which stay private and are used only to match you to briefs that need, say, a parent, a pet or a busy home.
Some categories, such as alcohol, are off unless you switch them on. Brands in those categories only see creators who opted in.
You can also connect your accounts so your followers, engagement and growth show as verified numbers. It is optional, but it helps.
Days four and five: request gifting
Gifting is the easiest way to start working with brands. Each week there are new PR drops, and there is a gifting directory you can search by brand.
Here is how a request moves:
- Requested. You ask for a product.
- Approved. The team approves the request and makes the ask with the brand.
- Shipped and Delivered. If a box ships late, your post date moves with it.
- Posted and Link logged. You post if you love it, then log your link on your tracking page.
Every request gets its own private tracking link, so you always know where things stand. We only ask for your full address once you are approved.
A few things that make gifting smoother:
- Watch your daily forms. There is a daily limit on gifting forms, and your dashboard shows how many you have left and when the count resets.
- Use "Apply to all" if you like. It queues an application to each brand you have not applied to yet, once a day. Forms with a captcha or a login come back to you marked "Needs you."
- Bonus forms. Joining a welcome offer from a partner brand adds bonus forms to your account, and they do not expire.
Days six and seven: browse campaigns and set up payouts
Campaigns are where briefs live. You can see open briefs and apply to the ones that fit. Each brief shows who it is for, and some brands only take creators who match every requirement listed.
Two things to sort out early:
- Gifted campaigns are open to you now.
- Paid campaigns need a payout account first. Payout setup opens once your membership is approved, so do it as soon as you can.
If a brand declines an application, you can ask again a week after the decline.
How the rewards levels work
Rewards are the fun part. There are five levels: Spark, Glow, Radiant, Icon and Inner Circle. Your level counts the campaign posts the team approves in each calendar month, and it starts fresh on the 1st.
- Spark is where you begin, with access to the open briefs board and the community chat.
- Glow takes 2 approved posts in a month and adds gifting picks and briefs before they hit the board.
- Radiant takes 5 and adds priority casting and first pick of gifting drops.
- Icon and Inner Circle take 10 and 20, and open up featured spots, in-person events and brand dinners.
Perks are experiences and access, not payments. Invite points are separate: they only open up access.
A note on freedom
Unresourced is the anti-agency. There is no non-compete and no exclusivity. Work on any other platform you like. When you show up and do great work, we notice.
For brands and agencies
Brand and Agency accounts are free. If you are a brand, the fastest way to start is to post a brief. It takes five quick steps:
- Product: what you are making ads for, with a category and a link.
- Goal: paid ads, TikTok Shop, a launch, organic or Amazon, plus who it is for and your key message.
- Budget and usage: how you will use the videos. Usage terms go into every brief in plain words, with an end date.
- Videos: how many, how many hook variations, and which platforms.
- Due: when you want first cuts and final content.
Our team reviews every brief and casts against it. You get a private link the moment you send it, and every video shows its status from first cut to approved to live.
Agencies can open a free agency account the same way. And if you would rather hand the whole thing off for a bigger launch, the team can run a program end to end.
Your week, in short
Add a video, get off the list, fill in your matching profile, request a few gifting drops, and set up payouts. That is a strong first week. After that, it is about showing up and making good work.
